Kavya Madhavan Voted Best

Kavya Madhavan voted best
Her looks, the meaty characters she portrayed on the screen and the image of the girl-next door have always favoured Kavya Madhavan, the popular actress of Malayalam film industry. That she has become an icon for Kerala youth is evident from the response of the participants in the Deccan Chronicle C-fore survey.
This heroine of block-busters like Meesa Madhavan, Thilakkam and the most recent Gadhama bagged the vote of 21 per cent of the respondents who felt that she is the No. 1 actress in Malayalam film industry now.
Bhavana, who is popular in almost all South Indian language films, came up second with the vote of 12 per cent of the participants.
Samvritha Sunil and Revathy came up a close third with 11 per cent of the participants selecting them as the best actress in Malayalam.
“One advantage for Kavya is that she got the chance to act with both young actors and the superstars. And she got some good roles too. Traditional or modern, all types of characters are safe with her,” says Arya J. Nambiar, a film buff.
Interestingly, even in this age of glitz and glamour, youngsters give prominence to the calibre of actors.
This is evident from many youth rooting for KPAC Lalitha and Urvashi. While 10 per cent thought KPAC Lalitha is the best actress, six per cent voted Urvashi for this slot.
Swetha Menon, who has found a place in Mollywood with a handful of character roles in the recent years, is also popular among the young film viewers. She also got six per cent of the participants supporting her.
“Unlike in the past, actresses are more prominent in Malayalam films,” says Sanya Ann Samuel, a student of St Teresa’s College.
“Whether it be Urvashi or Swetha Menon, these actors have shown that acting is more important than glamour.”
Mollywood’s newcomers like Meera Nandan, Archana Kavi, Reema Kallingal, Dhanya Mary Varghese, Ann Augustine, Mythili, Sarayu and Apoorva are at the lower rungs of the popularity chart. While Meera, Archana and Ann got three per cent of the votes, Dhanya, Reema and Mythili got two per cent and Sarayu and Apoorva, one per cent

Kavya Madhavan biography

Kavya Madhavan is a Malayalam cinema actress. Kavya Madhavan was born in the village of Nileshwaram in Kasaragod district, Kerala, India to P. Madhavan and Shyamala. She started to learn dance while studying in Nileswaram Rajas High School. She was the kalathilakam, a title bestowed to the artist who proves her skills in most artistic fields during a Sub District youth festival, in Kasargod. She is getting married to Nischal_(actor) sometime before March 2009.

Kavya entered the industry as a child artist in the film Pookkalam Varavayi (1991) in the role of a school girl. She came to public attention when she played the childhood part of the heroine character in Kamal's Azhakiya Ravanan (1996). She has since acted in over 25 films in Malayalam and a few in Tamil. She is noted for having retained her rural Nileshwaram accent. She was not allowed to dub for her movies because her voice does not fit the usual "sweet and soft" voice of typical dubbers. However, she recently has begun to dub for some of her roles, such as Perumazhakkalam.
